2014 Event Overview

The plastics industry is approaching a crossroads. Resin and its derivatives in use today are now are being challenged by new business models emerging from new feedstock supplies, new material engineering innovations and changing consumer perception.

GPS 2014: The Global Plastics Summit helped delegates explore these disruptive market forces and identify the challenges and opportunities to successfully navigate this uncharted territory in today’s rapidly changing marketplace. This summit offers a unique blend of industry-specific content and expert commentary with economic forecasts, new material technologies, round table discussions, and informal business networking.

Price:  Resin is the top business expense for plastics product makers.  The ability to accurately and predictably budget for this expense and avoid cost overruns is paramount to remaining competitive and viable in today’s marketplace.  However, market timing and price volatility among various commodity resins make it difficult for processors and brand owners alike to effectively forecast and manage project costs. IHS experts on commodity prices will provide attendees with timely and objective data, analysis, and insight. Delegates will walk away with valuable information from industry thought leaders on resin prices, market fundamentals, and forecasts, enabling them to stay current on competitive terms and deliverability.

Image: Today’s increasing focus on healthier living, sustainable/green products, natural products and protecting our environment is driving demand for global supply chain transparency and sustainable business practices. As a result of this trend, industry leaders, creative brand owners, and savvy retailers are looking for alternatives to help support their brand’s environmental profile and corporate sustainability goals. Delegates will hear how companies from across the supply chain are facing these increasing pressures.

Options:  Competing material makers are aggressively repositioning for America’s manufacturing renaissance and brand owners are re-examining both virgin materials and new composite options.   Supply chain panel discussions will provide attendees with the latest material advancements and new alternatives for conventional plastics, chemicals, and fuels.  Technical experts will share new material options and innovations to differentiate products. Attendees will also benefit from candid insight on the decision-making process by product designers in major plastics end markets: packaging, consumer products, and automotive.

A key group of your industry peers

GPS 2014: The Global Plastics Summit brought together, in one event, the major stakeholders, thought-leaders, industry analysts, processors, and executive decision-makers from the global plastics and polymer community to share insights on the industry’s future.
